Lowe's, the world's second-largest home improvement retailer, with sales of more than $30.8 billion, more than 950 stores and 147,000 employees in 45 states, recently broke ground on a new West Coast distribution center in Oregon.
After an extensive search and evaluation process, Lowe's selected Lebanon, Oregon, as the location for its distribution center. When built, the facility, located on an Oregon Certified Site, will be the state's third largest building at 1.4 million square feet—roughly the size of 31 football fields under one roof.
The site selected by Lowe's is one of Oregon's first certifeid sites made "project ready" under Governor Kulongoski's certified industrial lands initiative, administered by the Oregon Economic & Community Development Department.
Oregon is one of only three states (with New York and Pennsylvania) to develop a comprehensive program that assures prospective businesses requirements are met on a site and that construction may begin in 180 days or less.
